The shallowing water channel on Jalan Kompleks Usaha Karya (UKA) Block BG, RT 08/08, Tugu Utara Urban Village, Koja Sub-district, North Jakarta is dredged.

Koja Sub-district's Water Resource Implementer Unit Head, Slamet Riyanto, said the dredging is based on local resident's request through their RT and RW administrators.

"Mud and trash thickness reaches 20 cm. It surely triggers inundation," he said, Wednesday (8/7).

According to him, the dredging of water channel along 80 meters involves eight personel.

"The work has been starting on August 5 and is targeted to complete this week. Now it reaches 35 percent," he added.

He hopes the dredging will make the water flow smoothly and prevent inundation.

"I appeal local residents to also maintain the cleanliness of the water channel. Please contact us again for channel dredging," he continued.

Meanwhile, RT 08/08 Head, Tugu Utara Urban Village, Sarnata, appreciated the personnel for responding and dredging the channel.

"It only takes three days for personnel to start the dredging. Hopefully there will be no more inundation here," he stated.
